Limb Trauma

Limb trauma is rarely life threatening. Limb trauma could be in the form of multiple minor traumatic injuries to muscles, tendons, and joints that occur over a longer time span. It could be the form of:

  • Fractures.
  • Shin splints.
  • Sprains and strains.
  • Bleeding.
  • Compartment syndrome.
In case of limb trauma the examination must include
  • Skin color and temperature.
  • Distal pulse assessment.
  • Grazes and bleeding site
  • Limb alignment and deformities.
  • Active and passive movements.
  • Unusual movements and precipitation.
  • Level of pain caused by the injury.
